WEST CALDER DEATHS

 

In a tragic incident in West Calder, West Lothian, Scotland, 36-year-old Mark Gordon and his six-year-old daughter, Hope, were found dead in their home on Harburn Drive. The discovery was made around 4 p.m. on Monday, January 20, 2025, after police received a report of concern when Hope failed to attend school. Firefighters assisted the police in forcibly entering the property, leading to the heartbreaking find.

Chief Superintendent Gregg Banks stated that no other individuals are currently being sought in connection with the deaths. The incident is being treated as "unexplained," with post-mortem examinations scheduled to determine the causes. Forensic teams have been active at the scene, and officers have been conducting inquiries in the neighborhood.

The local community has been deeply affected by the tragedy. Residents described the father and daughter as relatively isolated, with one neighbor noting, "It's unspeakable. I would sometimes see the wee girl outside in the garden. She was such a lovely wee thing." Local politicians, including Justice Secretary Angela Constance and Labour MP Gregor Poynton, have extended their condolences to the family and community.

A police presence will remain in the area during the ongoing investigation, and authorities have encouraged anyone with concerns or information to approach the officers on duty.
